ASEE/NSF Strategic Investments Summit
September 27-28, 2018
Hilton Alexandria Mark Center
Alexandria, VA
This meeting is a joint effort of the American Society for Engineering Education and the National Science Foundation to gather senior institutional leaders who drive the innovation and research culture at our nation’s small colleges and universities to define and prioritize actionable solutions to impede engineering research at institutions that aspire to expand their research capacity. Attendees will hear from other senior leaders who have successfully grown sustainable research enterprises at their institutions, explore innovative solutions, network with federal program officials, and participate in a facilitated process that will inform the NSF of the desired capabilities of a resource center being established to accelerate research in engineering and computing. Institutions participating in this meeting will have priority in the selection of a pilot group for the proposed resource center. For more information contact: soarce@asee.org.
The Strategic Investments Summit (SIS) is a working meeting to define the composition of the “foundation walls” of a national virtual resource center to support sponsored research.
The summit will focus on the following “foundation” themes:
- Institutional Support of Research
- Contract and Grants Administration
- Scholarly Work
- Institutional Faculty Support
More than 40 institutions have registered to attend the SIS.
